Aside from the debate above, I'd just like to urge everyone, fans, students, and alum to wear WSU hats, shirts, scarves, jackets, etc. not just to games but everyday of the year as you run errands, go to movies, etc. We need to make our presence known around town. We are the larger university, we have the bigger alumni group in the area, yet we are nearly invisible.

I remember someone in a diner years ago saying, "I think someday WSU will be bigger than UD", when, in...

That's my perception also. I was born in '77 and grew up in Michigan. I moved to Huber Heights with my family in '90. Grew up a Michigan fan, got a pair of degrees from WSU, then got a degree from OSU. I cheer for all three teams, but favor Michigan over OSU if all things are equal.

Anyway, when I moved to Ohio, I really wasn't aware that...

I think you're exagerrating a little bit TBRF on OSU caring more about Michigan being bad than OSU's own success.

But I sort of agree with you. A lot of Ohio State's success is intertwined in beating Michigan which is one reason the rivalry is so big. If Ohio State wants to make the National Championship game in football, it always comes down to the Michigan game...and vice versa.

Bald Raider, once again, I understand the shirts at functions that we actually play UD in. The rivalry you speak of stops at Men´s Basketball, which is what I have been saying the whole time. As to standing on our own 2 feet, take a look at the OSU vs UM rivalry. While being one of the greatest if not the greatest sports rivalries in the nation, neither school lets the rivalry define their program, fan base, tradition etc... That is what I mean by standing on our own 2 feet.

Winning basketball games will do more to drum up interest on campus than any shirt anyone may wear. The 2006-2007 HL Championship game against Butler was fever pitched by game time and never let up the entire game. Hopefully, the near future will see more games like that one.

Just having cheap apparel is not enough. 2 years ago, we had $5 Beat Butler shirts, $5 Get Rowdy Shirts and $5 Gold WSU shirts (that were sold at Meijer by the way) and there was not a mad rush to purchase any of them. Sure, people bought them over time, but it is the general thought process of the average WSU student that we are fighting here. I guess if it takes UD to drum up interest on campus, so be it. I only hope this campaign does not define our student cheering section over the next...

I think one thing that affects what people wear around campus is the availability and price of the merchandise out there. If you want an Ohio State T-Shirt, go to pretty much any store that sells shirts in Ohio. Meijers sells them, usually pretty cheap. I got a couple OSU Football Jerseys (not authentic, but still nice) for like 10 bucks each when Schottensteins in Columbus had a store closing.

Where can you get WSU Merchandise? pretty much, just the Bookstore, and the College...

Hoopster your comment about "WSU merchandise" misses the point. This is not about anyone, WSU, students, Meijer, etc "making money". It's about school pride.

Every year Dr A-Z/VP for Student Affairs speaks at Convocation. He points out to the incoming Freshmen that now is the time to get rid of the OSU, Michigahn, UD, etc shirts. They are Wright State Students and they need to be proud of that. Wear Wright State stuff!

I agree with JBalto here. Let´s just agree to disagree. I am not in favor of the shirts either but they are better than nothing. I would much rather see our students wearing something green and gold with our logo on it, but that is just me. As to Hoopsters comment being an insult to the Raider Nation, I say REALLY (sarcasm). Come on, we need to grow some thicker skin here.

As to the logo, once again, I really would not like to see it at Men´s Basketball games as WE DO NOT...

Insulting...that makes me laugh. It's 2008 and part of the game, I don't think it's ever personal--just a way to get in somebody's head.

I like the shirts, very creative. I don't think they are meant to be taken to seriously anyway but still drive home a nice point.

Can't speak for RaiderRoundball but, insulting a student showing pride in Wright State is an insult to me, as well. I thank the students that post here and look forward to their participation. Hey everyone,
On Facebook I recently made a group titled "WSU > UD" and hundreds of WSU students joined and the number of members for the group continue to climb. Hundreds of WSU > UD window stickers for cars were given out at this years May Daze Party this year by the Raider Rowdies table. And someone in our group thought up of the idea of making WSU > UD t-shirts and wearing them to the games this upcoming season. Anyone know anyone who may be able to help make...
