Personnally I plan on us playing hard and going to NCAA. However, if we do end up in the NIT, we'll play whoever, wherever.

UD is the selected arena for NIT. Okay we will go there. We will then have the extra pleasure of beating them IN THEIR HOUSE!

We will need a large student base and fans to attend. I assume since it is an NIT game, not a UD game, we will have a fair amount of tickets available. Students/Fans need to be there and be ROWDY!

Roadtrip, I understand your disliking of UD, but the Wright State wrong school chant will not be going away any time soon nor is it a reason to not play in their arena. (I have heard that chant for as long as I can remember and am sure that it did not originate from UD) I agree, the game should be on our court, but if the powers that be make the decision to hold an NIT game at UD (if we are not dancing that is) then I say we go into their house and STOMP ÉM! What better way to slap that...

If they were to play in the regular season, I think it should be at WSU. The NIT would most likely put it at UD for seeding purposes. Plus UD is able to fit more people in, so money would be a factor.

But not all UD fans think that WSU's talent is low. I would take Duggins, Brown, Graham, Plieman, Wilson right now! Duggins would start no doubt. Brownell has the coaching edge. All in all it would be a great game.

I agree, pauley, from someone who has been to all 8 games and 5 at "Homer" arena, the next game should be played at the Nutt House. I got a lttle tired of hearing the UD student section chanting "Wright state, wrong school". Until they come up with a better chant, they should not have another home game vs. WSU.

If WSU should end up in the NIT, I would hope that WSU plays someone other than UD. Not because it would not be competitive, but because the next game between these two programs deserves to be at the Nut House. WSU has already played at UD Arena 5 out of the 8 games. The next game should be at WSU, period.

I think UD vs WSU would be a great game and would definitely sell out at UD arena. Maybe it would even revive the Gem City Jam?

If/when we don't win the conference tourney (it's seriously Butler's to lose) then I hope we have enough to merit a berth to the NIT. Hopefully we can win 3 more in a row and go dancing...but that's asking a lot.

Wow, this is one heck of a thread! First of all I find out about NIT-ology with UD and WSU. Then I read about who's crapping who's pants. I also read about the N.I.T. (not in tournament) game and the butts of UD. A loyal Dayton fan makes a public profession of his cheering for WSU. And to top it all off, I just found out about the new CBI tournament. Whew. What could be said in this thread to make it any better. Wait, it's the WSU/UD all star team. Man, what a thread!!!

I agree with Daliboa, the ironic thing is when this post was made about 2-3 weeks ago people were angry at the thought of the NIT. Many were appalled at the idea that WSU would not be in the NCAA tourny. I stick to the belief that I had then, if WSU makes a post season tournament it is a huge step for our program. It would be two consecutive years of post-season. It would be another week or two of hard practice. It would just add to it if we played UD.

Well I can say this as well, I don't know which team this guy is watching that said nobody but Plieman could actually make the Flyer squad. That seems to be backwards. I don't think anyone but Wright or Roberts would even make the Raider squad.

I can't think of anyone on that team that Duggins could not shut down. Let's don't go down the road as to which coach would win the close game either.

I am not NIT-picking because we still have an HL tourney title in our sights, so unless we are eliminated from the HL tourney, my focus is on winning our way into the big dance.

I'm glad were being considered for an NIT bid. The other tournament (CBI) is probably the reason. Not to say we don't deserve a bid to the NIT without the CBI. So maybe I'm wrong and we can secure an NIT bid. If there was no CBI tournament there would be no chance of an NIT bid.
Check the teams on that site that could be playing in the CBI, there are several marquee names on it(Cincinnati, Georgia Tech, etc)
As far as playing Dayton, its fine with me but we would be...

i didn't come up here to stir up trouble. i came here to respond to a thread about my favorite team and yours possibly playing. if you would care to bother, read most of my posts on here. they are usually complimentary towards wsu. the only time i can ever remember rooting against the raiders is when they played ud.

i hope wsu isn't even in the nit. i hope they make a run starting thursday night that puts them in the big dance. how do you like them apples?

I agree with Roadtrip. Our focus is on Valpo now, pure and simple.

If I had my choice I'd take any pre-season tournament over any post-season tournament other than the NCAA.

I agree completely that the focus should be on the Horizon tournament but if for some quirk of fate the two teams meet, here is something from the UDPRIDE board to put on the bulletin board:
"I watched WSU for the first time Saturday when their game was the deuce. That team is not very good. Excpet for Pleiman I couldn't see one player that would make the Flyers roster other than as a walk on."

Oh, really???????

But why do we care about any of this right now? We are in the Horizon league Tournament at the moment. After the HL tourney is over would be the time for speculation about the NIT or any other invitational tourney.
I don't know about anyone else but I still feel we can win this tournament and go to the NCAA tourney. Just my 2 cents worth.
