ahh high school i think i remember those days. graduated kettering fairmont class of '01. The only sport we had that was any good was our baseball team of course it would have been nice to have their new arena back then.

Yep, Jim Turvene. I remember my senior year (1970), our lowly 3-16 Wilbur Wright team had them at home. They were undefeated and ranked #1 in the state. By some miracle, we jumped out something like 10-0. Chaminade had to call time-out. I think I can still see the veins popping out of Turvene's forehead as he tore into them. It was the highlight of our season! They ended up winning the game by 40.

My Mom and Dad were friends with a Coach at Chaminade sometime in the 50's or early 60's. I think his name was Turvene or something like that.

Alpha,

Yeah Dick Marqaurdt coached most of his career at Roosevelt. He also coached at Wilbur Wright for a spell and at Miamisburg towards the end of his career.

I believe the Milton club is on Shedborne which runs off of Burkhardt.

Did Bill Fredericks also coach some at Chaminade high school? I believe their was a Fredericks coaching there in the 50s.

Ken - I'm living in the northern burbs of Atlanta, but thanks for the invite. I think I remember the Milton AC being off of Burkhardt Road? I'd really enjoy a visit, though. I try to get up twice a year, once in the summer and again for Thanksgiving - my wife and I still have family in the Dayton area. Let me ask, did you have Dr. Rose Burkhardt for English??

Bam - I remember the name Dick Marquandt, but he wasn't coaching at WWHS when I attended. Roosevelt maybe?...

Our High School has two 1,000 point scorers for the Raiders Bill Fogt and Andy Warner and is also the home of Gordy Wise the PA at the games.

I live about 3 blocks from Wilbur Wright. My mother grew up on Huffman and the majority of her family went through Wilbur Wright. Their last name was Bruns. My wife's grandfather coached football at Wilbur Wright his name was Richard "Dick" Marquardt. Did he happen to coach their when either of you attended?

Like you, I'm a Pilot from Wilbur Wright. Class of 1956. I guess I get the honor of being the old fart on the board.

By the way Alpha, are you local? If so, do I have a deal for you. The last Monday of every month, a bunch of Wilbur Wright guys have lunch together at the Milton Club in east Dayton. We meet about 11:30AM. Yesterday we had about about 60 guys there. Covers all classes. You would be welcome.

SPE that's funny! We probably played against each other. Nothing against good old Ferguson, but Ankeny just killed us compared to our Ferguson games!

My older brother use to take me to Xenia boys games in the early 90's. Man they were really good for a couple years. I think like the whole starting lineup could dunk which is amazing in high school.

LOL, this is amazing to me for everyone to remembers all that stuff.

Yes, Teddy "Ballgame" Williams made like 9 3-pointers one game. Great shooter. If he got a good screen, the ball was as good as in the hoop.
That 8th grade tourney game was at Xenia Central I believe. I was on that team too, pine rider, but you could see why with guys like Jerrod.

We were in the transition period of Larry Holden, to Buzz Seilhammer, to Charlie Back. Great era in Beavercreek...

I remember those Beavercreek teams back when I was at Xenia from like 97-2000. They were pretty good. I had forgot about Jamie Holden. He was kind of like AJ Graves. Annoyingly good!

And then wasn't there a Ted Williams at Beavercreek during those years who could really shoot?

But looking back on my short and unimpressive basketball career (I only played through 9th grade)...ha! The best player that I played against was a kid with the last name of Eldridge. I believe...

As an off season way to get to better know posters on Raiderroundball I thought this would be a good question. What high school did you go to and what year did you graduate?

I went to Chaminade - Julienne and graduated in 2000.
