Nitneylion, like you I read other message boards. I did not post on the UNCW board that when Brownell came to WSU he took a step back. That has been stated over and over again on the UNCW board. You may not ever have posted that but numerous other posters have. If repeating what I read is fanning the flames then so be it. Again, let me say that it was UNCW folks who have posted many not so nice things about my Alma Mater.

Coach offered 3 years, but Cusack is leaving in June! Just as players jump when the coach departs, will the coach leave since Dr C is leaving? The things said about Marquette (pay, conference, etc) are all true. However, let's hope Coach wants to stay here one more year and get this college into the big Dance!

He would then be really, really in demand!

Wait a minute, are you kidding me? You don't think Coach B would jump ship for Marquette? I mean seriously? Kent State's Jim Christian was an east coast guy who had six straight 20-win seasons and he left for TCU!
Coach B is a little hotter commodity, but Marquette can triple his salary and it would be a discount for them. Crean made 1.5 million. Marquette is in the strongest conference in the country, the Big East, which routinely gets 7-8 teams in the Big Dance. An average year...

two thoughts. first, this hubbub with bb's name being mentioned everywhere might be having a negative affect on our coaches attempts to recruit that last scholarship. hopefully not. second, if something bad happens eg. he leaves us, i am glad we do not have any freshmen signed on for next year. sometimes they rethink their decision when the coach leaves. GO RAIDERS!!!!!!!!!!1

Just my opinion, but I can't see Coach B and his fanily moving to Milwaukee. I could see him going to IU if offered, the MVC, or back to the coastal area in the ACC or SEC, but not Milwaukee. This time of year is always exciting because of the NCAA and the coaching musical chairs. Throw in the start of baseball, OSU spring practice, and the NFL draft, and April is a hot month.

The coaching carousel is always a tough time for mid-major schools with good coaches. Hopefully he's here for at least one more year. If he is, then we will be pretty solid for his successor. Duggins&Brown will be seniors and more players will have more time invested at WSU and will be less likely to transfer.

When he was hired, I hoped for 3 years & 1 NCAA appearance. I got half of my wish and hopefully I get the other half this November.

The site I went to only went back that far, I wasn't massaging the numbers. I have much respect for WSU and if you have read my past posts, I have been complementary to WSU and Coach B. If Roadtrip wants to fan the flames, it is up to him but I'll not respond to this thread again.

Man the Horizon League finished 20th in 04-05? That must have been a pretty terrible year for the league. It kind of skews the overall averages there.

I think the 2 leagues are pretty even. The CAA had their banner year with George Mason making the Final 4. They also had some other teams play well in the NCAA's. The Horizon usually has one really good team every year that makes some noise in the tournament. So they're pretty even as far as play in the tournament goes....

Their facilities from I have seen are a lot like the Gentile Center at Loyola or the ARC at Valpo. They would kill for our Pavilion & the Nutt House. At those levels, it's not about the money. He's making in the 2 million range, how much can you spend? Now, it's about winning and Kansas is the place not OSU.

Marquette, Ok State and others do not fit that scenario, IMHO.
Okie State will be going after Bill Self, an Okie State alum. T. Boone Pickens, the Texas Billionaire is an Okie State alum and has already given the Athletic Department $168 million for a new football stadium that will bear his name. Rumor has it that he is willing to given Self a $4 million signing bonus to be the new basketball coach.
