if you've read other posts on here by me, you would know that i am all for a renewal of the gem city jam.

last year, when wsu played pitt in the ncaa's, i saw a LOT more posts on ud pride rooting for wsu than i did hoping they would lose to the panthers. witnessed it with my own eyes. wsu fans have a lot more venom towards ud than ud does regarding wsu.

I am not a big UD fan and will admit that I have rooted against them at times...but last night I was rooting for the Flyers to win. Maybe it's my dislike of Ohio State that made me root for the Flyers. I'm not really sure.

The Flyers had a good season as did the Raiders. Neither school has anything to be ashamed about. It is just unfortunate that UD's athletic administration won't schedule one game each year to renew the Gem City Jam!!

It is just too bad that UD's Athletic Director does not feel the same as you, fff, in regards to renewing the Gem City Jam. Until that happens, I am just as content to play in the Miami Valley Jam against Miami of Ohio. They will play anybody but usually it is on a home and home basis.

i am basing it on this board vs. udpride, along with my co-mingling in the dayton area with fellow ud fans and wsu fans.

i also think there are alot of ud fans like myself who want to see the series renewed. it was a heckuva a lot of fun for the dayton area. both programs seem to be on the upswing right now, so the timing couldn't be better.

great post, very well thought out. ud is apparently somewhat relevant, since they were on the bubble for the ncaa this year and did get to appear in postseason play. those who live in glass houses....

FFF, what im trying to show you is that if you look at the udpride board RIGHT NOW, the same messages of hate geared towards OSU are coming from flyer fans. Be that because OSU wont play them in the regular season or flyer fans feel that OSU fans act above UD fans. Does this scenario remind you of another? It should...

I just wish UD fans were more objective which I truly believe WSU fans are. You have your extremes on both ends, the guy that hates UD so much that he wont read the DDN, to the guy who goes to a game once a year and doesnt really follow the progress of the team. Overrall, UD fans are just so unbearable sometimes. Why cant they be humble in the success of their program?

i for one am humble in the success of my program. i have no problem admitting ud is a mid major. i think ud should be doing better than they have since gregory took over. i have no image of ud being anywhere near the level of uk,duke,etc. heck, we aren't even comparable to xavier right now.

if there are ud fans who act like ud's you know what smells like roses, then they are foolish. i am just saying that i see alot of ud fans who bear no ill will towards wright state. just comparing the two messageboards alone, almost everyone on here loves it when ud loses. at udpride, i very rarely see someone take joy when wsu loses.

You are right you deserve better. Try this then. Over the past 22 seasons UD has 11 with losing records and 10 with winning records. Your overall record during this time is 352-313. All this with playing the majority of your non-conference games in the unfriendly confines of that rat hole you call UD arena. Yet you have the audacity to insist that Ohio State should play you every year with a home and home but that other program across town has to come to your place to play. Yes you are right you are still relevant.

There are many WSU fans who root for ud. Many of my friends and family do. Its just not for me. I got tired of arrogant ud fans a looong time ago dating to Ralph's early years. People forget the bashing we took when Ralph made a splash with his recruiting. And yes FFF many ud fans relish when we lose. You must not read all the anti WSU comments, because ther are many. Thats fine because it is on their board. If I posted on their board I would expect to get a bad reaction from their fans. I would think you should also expect it from here.

Come on guys, we all have good and bad fans and we definitely should not be judging anyone´s fan base based upon comments we find on message boards. I think we may just need to agree to disagree.

Backjudge, I think you need to settle down a little. Look back through FFF´s post and he was not the one that brought up the home and home with OSU. Actually, his posts are pretty rational and he even said that he would like to see the Jam fired up again. It seems to me that you are just trying to get him riled up (kind of like a troll). I do not believe FFF to be one of the UD fans that most people on this board despise.

when there have been threads about whether ud should play, wsu, i assure you i fall on the "we should play" side of the fence. try not assuming that because something is posted on a messageboard by some fans, it speaks for the entire fanbase. surely you understand this, right?

sorry, halo, if the truth hurts. but having our fans taking shots at a team that made the third round of the nit when we couldn't get out of the quarterfinals of our own tournament, and then were left uninvited is just plain silly. accepting our failure at the end of the season is not being less of a fan. and everyone is looking forward to next year. guessing we want to see post season play then, don't you think???? GO RAIDERS!!!!!!!!!
