Raiders Release League Schedule

DAYTON - The Wright State men's basketball team will play each Horizon League school twice once again during the 2008-09 season, starting with a trip to Wisconsin in December.

The League schedule includes five Saturday home games, including 2008 Horizon League Champions Butler on Feb. 7 and a home Saturday game in the Bracket Buster series Feb. 21. Cleveland State visits Dec. 30 to open the home League slate while the Raiders will finish with Milwaukee and Green Bay Feb. 26 and 28.

The non-conference portion of the schedule is still being developed with hopes of a release later this summer.

Wed., Feb. 18 @ Illinois-Chicago

Mar. 2, 6-7, 9 Horizon League Championship @ TBA

However, it stinks that there are 8 days between the two Chicago away games.

Not to mention, no BIG games during Holiday break in December, two on the road and the opener vs Cleveland State--who may be the favorite for the league this year...so I should revise that to Marquee games.

I might have to make a trip to a few HL road games this year. I can get good flight prices to Detroit/Chicago/Indy and perhaps Cleveland because they are all direct from here. That, of course, barring any oil surges to $500.

I guess no Chicago for me this year, with neither game on a weekend. Maybe I can get toWisconsin for a game for the first time. Milwaukee sounds like fun for a Saturday game.

You can thank the Bracket Buster for splitting up the Chicago games.

It stinks even more that both Chicago games are on weeknights and not the weekend. How about a fan bus trip to Wisconsin instead of Chitown?

Klinger, I do not know about great minds, but a fan trip to Wisconsin would be right down my alley. Also with the game in Cleveland being on a Saturday I wouldn't mind an overnight trip there either.

By the way Klinger, I saw you on FSN Saturday, they zoomed in on the two of you while Weathers was warming up on the mound.

Cool! I didn't know that. Thanks for letting me know. That would have been in the bottom of the 7th inning.

Earlier this Spring some folks close to the Alumni Association were talking about the possibility of working with the athletics department to take a Green Bay/Milwaukee bus trip for the upcoming season. They were concerned about the games being too close to Christmas. If enough interest is expressed to the right people, maybe they'll give it a try.

What I like about the conference schedule is we will not see Valpo after Feb 5th and 'in theory' our conference schedule to finish is fairly easy. (knock on wood)

Loyola, Detroit, UIC, Milwaukee, and UWGB can easily be 5-0 or 4-1 to finish the league. If we can get to the second Butler game 9-3 or 8-4 I think we have a shot at 1st or 2nd in the league. I don't like having Valpo and Butler back-to-back, especially for the first swing on the road. Being at home the second time around might be better, but than after seemingly two physical games it's off to Loyola (trap) for a quick turn-around of three games in five days.

Again, don't want to jinx anything but this schedule sets up very nicely with the bulk of road games first.

I will be the 1st to tell you... a trip to Milwaukee or GB on a bus is the longest experience of your life! Even with 3 movies on the team bus i thought it would never end... lol

I agree with you Rod. The Butler and Valpo games back-to-back does suck, especially with only one day off between them. Hopefully Butler won't be quite as tough as they were last year, but they don't ever seem to be BAD - especially at home. And I feel like we owe Valpo a whuppin after last year. But yes, I am glad to get them at home later in the season.
CSU is the only team that really scares me. They didn't scare me last year, then we gave them the game here at home....I thought we'd go up there later and pay 'em back but they beat us again. This has got to be the year for paybacks. We COULD win all of these, but this is unlikely; however, we can, in my opinion, snag home court for the HL tourney.

Semirabid, we are going to have to change your name to semi-accurate. LOL

We beat CSU by 6 last year at their place, it was Valpo that beat us both home and away. I have to say that I do like all the Saturday games, sounds like the Nutter Center belongs to us more than the Bombers now in the winter.

You got to keep in mind that I am getting on in years...facing retirement and all that.....Stupid stuff I say...just a couple of days ago i talked about Tulsa being in Texas (blush). Nevertheless, I am scared of CSU. Valpo is the one we owe some butt kickin' to. I like that opener though. Home against Ill. St. should be a fun one for me and my kids.

The Butler games are exactly where they were 2 years ago with the road game in early January and the home game is in early February. That was the year we were HL champs!!
