The second disappointment came when I noticed that Tyler didn't take the court for warm ups. I stayed around for the start of the game to see what the word was. Turns out he is injured. He was wearing a brace on his left ankle and was on the bench.
Now I know someone will ask about his limp. Yes, he was limping, but I'm not sure what to make of it. Was this the injury from March, or a new injury? I don't know. Second, it is hard to tell about HS guys, especially tall ones. Usually when any tall teenage boy stands up it looks like he may fall over at any time. Kind of like Jim Brown getting up from a pile after a 30 yard tackle busting run.
I would say there is some good news. I went down by the end basket where his team was seated to get some measure of his height during a time out. When we first signed him I thought they said he was 6' 5 or 6". I'd say he looks more like 6' 7 or 8". He appeared to be the second or third tallest player on the team. The program gave no heights, weights, etc., but the tallest player looked like he'd be 6'10" and Tyler wasn't much shorter. We'll see this fall when practices begin.
At least it was a nice day for a drive.
